MCU Phase 4: Which Characters Will Return After Avengers: Endgame?

24. Gamora

Status: Currently Unknown

While Gamora returned in Endgame, it was the 2014 version who was still allied with Thanos at the outset. She did swap sides (because goodness is goodness no matter what the timeline) and did kill the evil version of her sister, but what happened from that point onwards is a little unclear.

There's no sense her going back to her own time, since the new timeline would see her alienated by the deaths of her sister and "father," though she COULD try and find the Guardians, but that would just cause her headaches when she tried to explain who she was. More likely, she's still in the 2023 timeline, but she's gone off on her own because she doesn't yet know herself or the other Guardians. That's why she's not with them at the end.

Next Up: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3?

Well, it's not certain, but it did look a lot like Peter Quill was looking for her, so we could see Guardians Vol 3 taking up that search alongside the Adam storyline. Assuming that was Gunn's intent all along?

23. Rocket Raccoon

Status: Alive

Everyone's favourite Build-A-Bear made it through Endgame as was widely expected. It definitely looked touch and go for a while when he was being crushed in the Avengers Facility wreckage, but all's well that ends well. He also got a little paternal moment with Groot when he thought he was going to be injured and covered him, which was totally heartwrenching.

But crucially, he lives on.

He'll be back with the rest of the crew. Hopefully, the quest for Gamora will also take in his own past (possibly to set up a Rocket and Groot spin-off eventually?)
