MCU: Predicting Marvel's Next 20 "Completely Different" Movies

17. Secret Invasion

They might be selling the idea of a whole new approach to story-telling after Avengers 4, but Marvel would be crazy to move away from their established model of film-making entirely. And that means we can probably still expect the franchise to mimic the way the comics periodically introduce huge story events that unify characters for one over-riding threat.

In that respect, they're going to need another big event to focus on in the wake of Infinity War, and they've already got the roots planted thanks to Captain Marvel. With that movie set to introduce the Skree/Krull war that is so key to the background of the Secret Invasion comics arc, we could be about to see the revelation that some of the MCU's oldest heroes are in fact imposters.

Just imagine how much that sort of reveal in Avengers 4 would mess with things, and the prospect of it then leading to an event movie in which the Skrull agents are uncovered (and old heroes are retired) is very exciting.
