MCU: Predicting Marvel's Next 20 "Completely Different" Movies

It shouldn't still be the case that we're waiting for a Black Widow movie in 2017. It should have happened well before we even got to Phase 3 of the MCU, especially given the fact that Natasha set up an intriguing backstory with her Budapest references and mention of "red in her ledger". Ultimately Age Of Ultron explored SOME of her backstory, but there's far more between her leaving the Red Room and becoming an ally of the Avengers that deserves exploration.

It would be particularly interesting to see a story that focuses on the possible shared past of The Winter Soldier and Black Widow, with Natasha in the lead (and solely mentioned in the title), as there's still some unmined potential in Bucky's story too.

And if you're looking for hope, Kevin Feige did confirm that a Widow movie is in his immediate plans - at the press day for Civil War:

"Yes, for sure, I think Widow at some point would be great. But when you start talking about things that are now four/five years away... Sometimes we do that. Doctor Strange has been talked about for ten years. But we're focused on the next nine movies, which is a lot, between now and 2019."

Sadly, it might not star Scarlett Johansson. When talking about the future of Marvel, she said:

“I feel a lot of joy for the next generation. It’s a bittersweet feeling, but a positive one.”

Maybe that's just her negotiating position, but it sounds like the end of her contract will be the end of her time in the MCU.
