MCU Vs DCEU: The Definitive Comparison (So Far)

4. Critical Reactions

One thing is for certain; based on the fervent online debate that surrounds the release of every DCEU movie, the fans are much more receptive to the studio's superhero blockbusters than the critics. We've seen protests, petitions and other various online bullsh*t surround these projects that in the long run accomplish precisely nothing.

Marvel, on the other hand, have scored a 'Fresh' rating for every single one of the studio's eighteen releases to date, even when said critical praise hasn't been entirely justified. Looking at you, Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World. Maybe The Incredible Hulk as well. Nonetheless, the MCU has shown incredible consistency with no less than thirteen movies scoring over 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, with seven breaking the coveted 90% barrier.

At the other end of the spectrum, Wonder Woman may hold an impressive 92% but no other entry in the DCEU has even been rated 'Fresh', with Batman vs. Superman and Suicide Squad marking the franchise's critical nadir with 27% and 26% respectively.

As a whole, the MCU boasts an average of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes and 68 on Metacritic, compared to the 48% and 52 of the DCEU. Of course, film criticism is hugely subjective and entirely a matter of personal opinion, allowing the viewer to draw their own conclusions on just how good they find any of these movies to be.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
