MCU Vs DCEU: The Definitive Comparison (So Far)

As even the most casual of moviegoers will be aware, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is far and away the biggest franchise in Hollywood history after amassing a gargantuan $14.8bn at the box office, a number that is only going to grow exponentially in the coming months with Black Panther still holding strong and Avengers: Infinity War weeks away from release.
That isn't to say the DCEU has been a slouch at the box office, because the first five entries in the franchise all out-earned the first five movies in the MCU. Even Justice League, the lowest-grossing entry in the DCEU to date, made more money during its theatrical run than any movie in Marvel's Phase One prior to the release of The Avengers.
Obviously, the DCEU is a long way from crossing the fabled billion-dollar mark, something Marvel have accomplished an impressive five times, including three of the ten biggest movies of all time. But the potential is definitely there.
The MCU may be streets ahead in terms of monetary gain, but the DCEU's return of $3.8bn from five movies is nothing to be sniffed at, and there is every possibility that Wonder Woman 2 will mark the studio's first entry into the elusive ten-figure club.
