Minions: 12 Easter Eggs You May Have Missed

4. Stanley Kubrick Faking The Moon Landing

When the Minions gang are heading to Kevin, Stuart and Bob in England, they go by way of America, accidentally gate-crashing what appears to be a fake Moon set. This a cheeky shout-out to the long-held theory that the 1969 Moon landings were a fake and a nice throwback to Minions being on the Moon in the original Despicable Me. However, there's more to the reference than just that; the fake landing is being directed by someone who looks noticeably like Stanley Kubrick circa 1968. One of the more outlandish proponents of the Moon landing hoax is that the 2001 director was integral in faking the whole thing, so his appearance here is nice nod to it (and much more overt than the supposed clues in The Shining).
