15. All The Times Ethan "Dies" (M:I2, 3 & Rogue Nation)

It's pretty hilarious that, at present, Ethan Hunt has "died" in more of the Mission: Impossible movies than he hasn't. For starters, in M:I2, the villainous Sean Ambrose (Dougray Scott) appears to shoot Ethan dead, but it's soon revealed that Ethan in fact placed a mask of himself on the face of Ambrose's lackey Hugh Stamp (Richard Roxburgh).

Ethan gets far dicier brushes with the reaper in the later sequels, though: in the third film, his wife Julia (Michelle Monaghan) is forced to stop his heart with a makeshift defibrillator to deactivate an explosive inside his head. Ethan's clinically dead for about three minutes before she can revive him. Extra points for Ethan's hilarious remark, "I'll die unless you kill me."

And finally, in the most recent movie, Rogue Nation, Ethan drowns while trying to retrieve a drive from an underwater data bank. He's only revived when Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson) shocks him back to life.

Don't be surprised if it happens again in Fallout, but clearly, all this resurrection can't be good for your health.
