Moonfall Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

1. It's Got Cult Classic Written All Over It

There's nothing worse than a film trying to force itself into campy cult classic status, but it has to be said that the bolder, more over-the-top narrative decisions in the movie's second half - and yes, especially that third act - could give it a longer shelf-life than expected.

While it's a given that Moonfall is going to underwhelm at the box office, it's easy to imagine it enjoying a second life once it hits streaming in the near-future.

It's not going to have a miraculous critical re-assessment, but fans of goofy schlock should have plenty of fun with what Moonfall ultimately has to offer. This could end up a regular player on the midnight movie circuit and in hotboxed dorm rooms the world over.

That's surely not the fate Emmerich or Lionsgate would prefer for the film, but it's better than Moonfall simply being a bland lotta nothing that quickly fades into the anonymous ether on a streaming service somewhere.
