Moonfall Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

3. Patrick Wilson & Halle Berry's Solid Performances

Nobody gives a great performance in this movie, but Patrick Wilson and Halle Berry do deserve a measure of credit for attempting to anchor this ridiculous story in some sort plausible sense of humanity.

Wilson, who has carved out a respectable career playing a likeable everyman, is well-cast as disgraced astronaut Brian, basically playing the straight man to Bradley's Houseman for most of the movie, and at least bringing a sense of urgency to the central threat.

Berry certainly gets the more thankless of the two roles, desperately trying to maintain a straight face while ripping through reams of techno-babble dialogue, and doing a relatively good job of it.

More than anybody else in the film, their efforts allow them to escape with their dignity in tact, and ensure that even in its worst moments, Moonfall is at least fronted by two absolute pros doing their best with the material.
