Morbius: 21 WTF Moments
10. Those Cut MCU References
Though the final cut of Morbius does still include a glimpse of the Daily Bugle newspaper and other non-specific references to Spider-Man lore from the comics, the odd decision was seemingly made to downplay the film's direct relation to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Earlier trailers showed the presence of Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes/Vulture, whose original scenes were cut from the film and replaced with new scenes shot just a few months ago.
Also the trailer shot of Michael walking past a wall with the word "murderer" sprayed over a mural of Spider-Man, seemingly implying that this film exists in the MCU, was ultimately cut from the final film.
On one hand you can't blame Kevin Feige for wanting to keep a movie this poor away from the MCU, if it was even his call at all, but for general audiences this must all seem very confusing.
We'll get back to this when we discuss those insane credits scenes later...
