Morgan Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

5. The Messy Pacing

Morgan Anna Taylor Joy
Fox

Morgan has a somewhat fatal combination of being both a slow burn and an extremely short movie, running in at just 92 minutes long.

Movies that fleeting don't really have the luxury of a slow pace, and yet the film's first half in particular is an absolute slog, weighed down by rampant exposition when it really should just show the viewer rather than continually tell them.

The second half, however, ramps up considerably and ends up feeling rushed as the film hurtles towards its climax. It wouldn't have made the film a masterpiece, but balancing out its pacing and perhaps adding 10 or 15 minutes to allow the second half to breathe a little more may have worked in its favour.
