3. Anya Taylor-Joy's Solid Performance

Morgan Anna Taylor Joy
Fox

Anyone who's seen the recent horror movie The Witch will know that Anya Taylor-Joy has enormous promise as a young talent, and she's easily one of the few bright spots of this movie.

Made up to look distinctly alien-esque with Scott making terrific use of her almost impossibly large eyes, Taylor-Joy is curious as the initially more stoic Morgan, while also utterly convincing as a murderous maniac once things go wrong.

She modulates the performance extremely well, but it's a shame she didn't get stronger material, because she clearly deserves it. The film's failure critically and commercially won't hurt her career in the slightest, but hopefully she'll find more inspired projects in the future.
