Mother! Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs

1. It's Like Nothing Else Out Right Now

Though some of the film's themes aren't exactly subtle or fresh, the movie as a whole is truly unlike anything else in cinemas right now.

It is an utterly unrestrained slice of inventive madness for better and for worse, and if you're fed up of mainstream studio fare that caters to the lowest-common denominator, then Mother! just might be the violent, cinematic slap in the face you're craving.

Again, it's not for everyone and you might end up only begrudgingly respecting it, but Aronofsky should be lauded more than not for his fearless attempt to bring a vision to the screen that's like nothing else starring an A-list cast.
