The Muppets: Ranking Every Movie From Worst To Best

3. The Muppets Take Manhattan

If anything keeps The Muppets Take Manhattan from the top-spot on the list, it is purely nostalgia and has nothing to do with the quality of the film. What's truly remarkable is that this is the first Muppet movie to really thrust Kermit into the limelight. As was the case with The Great Muppet Caper and Muppets Most Wanted. these films are often so preoccupied with the human element, and forget the main selling points are the puppets. This time round, Frank Oz (in a directorial debut) finds the perfect blend of man and Muppet - providing the likes of Juliana Donald and Louis Zorich with just the right amount of screen-time that lets them shine without being overbearing. The character of Kermit has come such a long way since his days plucking the ukulele in a swamp, and it's a testament to his fictional and real-life fame that he finds himself mixing it up in Broadway this time round. But it isn't all lights and glamour for the Muppets when they hit New York - this may have the harshest undertones of the whole franchise, singling out the trials and tribulations that come with being a performer, yet still maintaining the same high-level of whimsy and fun we've come to expect from the group.

I love all things imaginative, from the page to the screen, and nurture a soft spot for Donald Sutherland and Daniel Bryan.
