4. Showbiz (1999)
Muses first album, Showbiz, was definitely not as over-the-top and exciting as the ones that followed, which is why it receives a low ranking. Despite this, its still amazing. It is rather unlike anything they went on to create. Showbiz doesnt follow themes of conspiracies, politics and world order; instead the songs are about personal relationships and the struggle to establish themselves as a band in their home town. The album also doesnt use as wide an array of instruments, for which they are now known. However, they still use a considerable amount to create the albums aggressive, punky sound. Its sad to think that the band rarely plays the songs of this album live anymore. Despite the initial moderate success of Showbiz, it holds some of Muses best work.
Key Tracks: Sunburn, Unintended, Muscle Museum.
