Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5: Everything You Need To Know
10. It Started As Fan Fiction
Well, sort of. Whatever the end result of the fifth Alien instalment, it's all going to get traced back to that afternoon Neill Blomkamp started showing off his pipe-dream concept on Instagram. At the time he merely referred to it as something had been working on that he didn't ever think would be made, but the next thing anyone knew there was confirmation that it was actually happening. Dubbed "a mental stroll into the world Ridley Scott created" that apparently "woulda rocked", sometime between then and now the entire project has been green-lit and Blomkamp had been placed in charge of both writing and directing the thing. Whatever the end result is going to be, it'll be his vision that brings it to the screen. Given that his CV currently comprises of the brilliant District 9, the good-in-parts Elysium, and the yet to be seen Chappie he's a bit of a gamble, but given the care and attention that's gone into his concept art it's clear he'll be as worried about it being a flop as any other fan of the series.
