Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5: Everything You Need To Know

7. Hicks Is Back Somehow

While everything that's either been announced in public or revealed in the concept art remains open to interpretation, the inclusion of a haggard and wounded Colonel Hicks is pretty decisive. Blomkamp's vision requires Michael Biehn to reprise his role, despite the small handicap of having killed him off at the start of Alien 3. When Ripley has her cryotube opened at the beginning of the film, she discovers that all of her comrades, Hicks included, have been killed in their sleep. It was a scripting decision that was immensely unpopular with fans, and the 2013 FPS game Aliens: Colonial Marines presented an improbable (but allegedly canon) explanation for Hicks actually still being alive - long story short, between the two films the occupant of the cryotube changed. Doing the rounds at a recent convention though, Michael Biehn has been fielding the inevitable questions about whether or not he's involved in Alien 5 with a smile and a "looks like it". Another element that the film might have to do some work to make fit but one that'll delight fans of the franchise nonetheless.
