Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5: Everything You Need To Know

4. It's "An Ending" For Ripley

Ever since the credits rolled on Alien Resurrection, Sigourney Weaver has been public and upfront with her displeasure of how the story left Ripley. That's some 18 years she's been seeking closure, so there's no way she'd be giving her approval to a new story if it didn't tick that particular box. Whether Weaver thinks it's more important to end the story in a literal sense or simply offer something that's more befitting of the character remains to be seen, but one thing that's clear from the conversations her and Blomkamp have had is that there's going to be a sense of finality about this. €œI would love to take Ripley out of sort of orbiting around in space and give a proper finish to what was such an excellent story" were Weaver's exact words. With Blomkamp being a self-confessed Alien super-fan, and Sigourney Weaver being instantly convinced by his concept for a new film, the early signs are certainly encouraging for this not being a total disaster.
