Wicker is a romantic fantasy film based on Ursula Wills-Jones' short story "The Wicker Husband," and stars Olivia Colman as an unnamed fisherwoman who resides in a sleepy village and, amid her crushing loneliness, asks a local basket weaver (Peter Dinklage) to make her a husband out of wicker.

And of course said husband is played by Alexander Skarsgård, reportedly wearing some sort of insane wicker get-up, because why wouldn't he?

Early reviews from Sundance have largely praised Wicker for its off-the-wall sense of humour, its weird but crowd-pleasing tone, and the performances of its central cast, especially the unexpected romantic pairing of Colman and Skarsgård.

Meanwhile some have even compared the film to Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands of all things, and that's never bad company to be in.

Considering how staid and over-familiar most rom-coms tend to be, this sure sounds like a huge, much-needed breath of fresh air for the genre.
