New Batman Film: 5 Changes From Nolan's Trilogy It Must Make

4. More Detective Work

BatmanAC_Detective The one thing that irked me about Nolan€™s Dark Knight trilogy was the almost total lack of detective work undertaken by Batman. When I think about Batman€™s most important qualities, his incredible detective work should be up there with his combat training as his most crucial important feature; however, during Nolan€™s run, Batman did very little of that type of intellectual work €“ at least on-camera. Most of what Batman did to defeat his enemies was determine what type of tool Mr. Fox should develop, have Mr. Fox develop that tool, and then use that tool against said enemy. While this structure worked in the movies, and while it would have been very difficult for Nolan to dedicate significant and precious minutes to detective work during the trilogy, I€™d like to see the next rendition of Batman to include his intellectual prowess. I want to see the star of Detective Comics do just that €“ Detect. He should scout out his opponent much more than he uses brute force. This will be extremely important in his battles with Superman in Man of Steel 2 €“ if Batman decides to go with the combat-force route, he will lose a lot quicker than he would if he detected and analyzed his opposition prior to the fight.
