Trailer Christmas continues this week with a departure from the MCU, and instead a shift to Legendary's forthcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

After a stunning first teaser back at San Diego Comic-Con in July, the new trailer shows off even more of the film. That includes more of the humans, such as Kyle Chandler's Mark Russel, Vera Farmiga's Emma Russell, and Millie Bobby Brown as their daughter, Madison, who has a connection to one of the beasts. Alongside that, there's also a look at a number of the monsters we can expect to see Godzilla battling in the film.

The trailer teases some of the film's human plot, which will follow the mysterious agency Monarch, who are attempting to find ways to co-exist with the monsters everyone knows exit after the events of Gareth Edwards' 2014 movie. That's all just table setting though, because the trailer makes it clear they know what everyone's going for: the monsters themselves.

With Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah, and of course Godzilla, the trailer sets up two hours of an epic monster mash, and really, who doesn't want to see that?

Directed by Michael Dougherty (Krampus), the film serves not only as a sequel to Godzilla, but also as the next instalment in the MonsterVerse, which is building to 2020's Godzilla vs Kong.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be released on May 31, 2019.
