20 Recent Movies EVERYONE Knew Would Suck

Much as Milla Jovovich is perfectly well-cast in the action-thriller realm, her name is rarely an indication of a quality motion picture, given that she has just two critically well-received films to her name over the last 20-plus years.

And so it was impossible to expect much from her new movie Protector, where Jovovich stars as an ex-soldier who battles through the criminal underworld to rescue her kidnapped daughter.

It's basically Taken x John Wick, albeit at a far lower level of production quality than either, while touting an army of more than a dozen producers, including Jovovich's own filmmaker hubby Paul W. S. Anderson, and being directed by Rambo: Last Blood filmmaker Adrian Grünberg.

The trailer hardly offered up much indication of a pleasant surprise, and so Protector's on-brand reception saw it panned for its cliched story and generic execution, even if there was some scattered praise for Jovovich's ferocious mama bear performance.
