New Mutants Movie: 10 X-Men Characters We Want To See
2. Cypher/Warlock
If the X-Men taught us anything, its that not all gifts are equal. No character demonstrated that better than Doug Ramsey, aka Cypher, who was gifted with the amazing ability to understand any language he heard. Yeah. Faced with enemies who can manipulate metal, shoot lasers, or even just hit you really, really hard, Cypher is about as useful as a chocolate tea pot. Ironically, the character actually ended up becoming one of the most interesting characters in the New Mutants after his first death (see what I mean about mortality issues?) when he was resurrected after being fused with his techno-organic alien BFF Warlock. After dying and coming back a second time, Cypher now possesses omnilingualism, intuitively mastering every form of language him comes into contact with, including spoken, written, computer, and body language. The alien Warlock, meanwhile, was a techno-organic being capable of altering his shape at will, infecting organic beings and technology with an alien virus that transforms them target into similar techno-organic beings, and draining the life force of other techno-organic beings for sustenance, killing them. Luckily for both humans and mutants, Warlock is part of the 10% of aliens that dont want to kill us, enslave us, or stick a probe into us. In a lot of adaptations and parallel universes, Doug remains fused with Warlock, granting him a variety of technology-based powers. If Cypher is to appear in New Mutants, this is the version wed like to see.
With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
