New Year’s Eve 2012: 11 New Year's Resolutions Hollywood Must Make

11. No More Eddie Murphy, Thanks

Eddie Murphy To be honest, this is just a good rule of thumb. Keep Eddie Murphy away from anything that isn't Shrek related. Oh, and stop making Shrek movies as well. Despite showing everyone how good he could be in Dreamgirls, Murphy went back to making terrible, terrible movies, including this year's A Thousand Words, and proved that once funny actors can lose everything that makes them funny when they wrongly believe that their appeal boils down to one thing. It happened to Jack Black when he and Hollywood thought his being a portly rock-type was his comic effect, and Kevin James when Hollywood thought he was all about being fat and falling over. Murphy's shtick is apparently being obnoxious and loud - in other words everything that unfortunately made his performance as Donkey so memorable - and ignoring the human appeal elements that made his earlier, most successful films genuinely enjoyable. And despite his potential, he's now had enough chances. 2013 should be a Murphy-less year, unless he wants to make something worthwhile. And there's probably very little chance of that. What other New Year's Resolutions should Hollywood make? Should Michael Bay be banned from making films for good? Are there too many remakes altogether? Share your own picks below.
