Next Bond Director: 8 Best & 4 Worst Directors To Replace Danny Boyle

6. Kenneth Branagh

Kenneth Branagh's career trajectory might not appear to be exactly perfectly matched to handling James Bond, but looking beyond the specifics of the film titles, there's more than enough on his CV to suggest he might be a good candidate.

Primarily known for Shakespearean adaptations, Branagh also has experience with huge blockbusters and brands - like Thor, Cinderella, Murder On The Orient Express and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (which is underrated, to be quite honest). More importantly, he also knows how to make opulent films with a keen eye for theatricality and ceremony. If you don't think Daniel Craig's rougher-edged Bond isn't missing some of that, you're not paying enough attention.

Branagh would understand what an old-school Bond would need and that might well be the best way to shepherd Daniel Craig out - a nostalgic celebration as a full-stop before a brand new era.
