Next Bond Director: 8 Best & 4 Worst Directors To Replace Danny Boyle
5. Steve McQueen
Steve McQueen is somewhat fresh as a film-maker compared to some of the other options on this list of candidates, but he's already proved himself to be an incredibly gifted film-maker who knows how to paint visceral portraits of his central characters. That definitely sounds like a natural progression of the way Daniel Craig's Bond has been portrayed so far.
The idea of McQueen helming a reluctant Bond struggling with his identity - which might be the most valuable thing the studio could draw from Daniel Craig's real world experience with the character - is just about the perfect match. And it would be genuinely great to see what the artist would do with that unravelling identity.
A Bond film would also offer him something he hasn't really focused on so far, in terms of scale, and it would be a natural progression from his upcoming heist film Widows.
