Next Bond Director: 8 Best & 4 Worst Directors To Replace Danny Boyle

4. Matthew Vaughn

Would it be out of the question for the studio to consider hiring Matthew Vaughn considering his Kingsman films lampoon Bond's tropes and lore so heavily? It would be no more outrageous than JJ Abrams making a Star Trek film in the mould of a Star Wars movie and then moving on to helm an actual Star Wars movie...

A lot of Vaughn's possibilities as a candidate would depend on how much he really wants to make a third Kingsman film and whether he'd like to come full circle on Daniel Craig's Bond. After all, he was actually tentatively attached to dfirect Casino Royale for a while, before the deal failed to be closed. "I had a lot of meetings on Casino Royale," he told Empire. "So much so that the head of MGM offered me it. I had a 24-hour period where I thought I was directing Casino Royale."

He might have taken to Kingsman because of the opportunity to make an unexpected spy movie, but his experience on that franchise and his previous work with Daniel Craig definitely makes him a stand-out.
