Nick Fury: 10 Ramifications His Disney+ Series Could Have For The Marvel Cinematic Universe

WandaVision set photos have confirmed that S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient World Observation and Response Department) will be introduced in that Disney+ series, and common sense says they've been established in response to Thanos' devastating attack on Earth.

Of course, the fact they're on the ground getting their hands dirty is definitely unexpected, especially when the comic book version of the organisation is tasked with handling extraterrestrial threats and operates out of a satellite that hovers above the Earth. Well, what if it's Nick Fury who is responsible for shifting their focus in that direction?

Spider-Man: Far From Home's post-credits scene made it clear he's been spending some time in the cosmos, so it's an area he's familiar with. Maria Hill is likely to join him in whatever form this show takes, but it should be Abigail Brand who is ultimately placed in charge of S.W.O.R.D.

With that firmly established, it could factor into any number of future stories, including - but certainly not limited to - the Fantastic Four's origin story, whatever threat the Guardians of the Galaxy face in Vol. 3, and the inevitable arrival of Galactus and the Silver Surfer on Earth.
