Nick Fury: 10 Ramifications His Disney+ Series Could Have For The Marvel Cinematic Universe

4. The Kree/Skrull War Comes To Earth

Captain Marvel touched on the Kree/Skrull War, but balancing that with Carol Danvers' origin story and the revelation that Talos wasn't a bad guy meant it didn't really get the screentime it deserved. At the end of that first movie, Carol blasted off into outer space, and with it hard to believe the Kree have behaved themselves since, another Kree/Skrull war erupting around Nick Fury would make sense.

Like Secret Invasion (a story which Marvel Studios can push further down the MCU's timeline), the Kree/Skrull War is a huge deal in the comic books and saw Earth's Mightiest Heroes travel into outer space to resolve this epic conflict.

If Fury is somehow involved in the start of that war or just (unsuccessfully) attempts to stop it from happening, then the stage will be set for the next Avengers movie to delve into this conflict and explain why the Skrulls want to infiltrate Earth and take their revenge on that superhero team.

There's a tonne of potential here, and Fury making his final stand to protect Captain Marvel, his home, and the team he once brought together to lead up to a bigger story would be no bad thing.
