Nick Fury: 10 Ramifications His Disney+ Series Could Have For The Marvel Cinematic Universe

3. The MCU Gets A Powerful New Villain

The Watchers were spotted in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Uatu (set to be voiced by Jeffrey Wright in the What If? animated series coming to Disney+) is a character bound to make an impact in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's live-action stories before too long.

In the comic books, it was revealed that Nick Fury had secretly been serving as the "Man on the Wall," someone who secretly protected Earth from a number of cosmic threats...by any means necessary.

In a bizarre twist meant to get rid of Fury, The Avengers learned he had killed Uatu, and this all led to him becoming an immortal being known as "The Unseen" whose punishment was to watch events unfold without ever being allowed to become involved (torture for someone like Fury). If anyone can make sense of this nonsense and turn it into something great, it's Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios.

Once that happens, Fury could be established as a new bad guy in the MCU, with Samuel L. Jackson voicing some sort of CGI baddie who plays a recurring role in proceedings moving forward. It would be weird, sure, but there are ideas here which could work on screen after being explored on Disney+.
