Nicolas Cage will play Al Capone in
Brian De Palma's prequel to his classic film,
The Untouchables. The movie titled
The Untouchables: Capone Rising, will see Cage play the role made famous by the great
Robert De Niro some twenty years ago. This prequel will depict the early dealings and relationship between Capone and Irish cop Jimmy Malone, who was played superbly by
Sean Connery in the original. This will be the second time Cage was worked under De Palma. The previous time being for that hideous of mess,
Snake Eyes. So is De Palma trying to convince us that Nicolas Cage is the modern day equivalent of Robert De Niro? I don't think so! Not only that but is De Palma by shooting this prequel trying to convince us he still has the vision he once had? Again his recent filmography would suggest not. So, a young Sean Connery to find next. I don't evny his task on that front. source -
