A lot of films try to evoke or capture a sense of time and place, especially when it comes to looking back on previous ages of Hollywood, but few look like they've achieved it so well as Once Upon A Time appears to have.

With some gorgeous cinematography by the legendary Robert Richardson, and production and set design by Baraba Leigh and Nancy Haigh respectively (the latter has helped so many Coens movies look great), this film really looks and feels like it was made in 1969. Even though throwback aesthetics and nostalgia are so in right now, few movies seem to be doing them as holistically as this. From the movie sets to the glowing lights and signs, the cars, costumes, and everything else in between, this looks like a 1960s Hollywood that has walked out of memory and fully formed onto the screen.
