One Mind Blowing Secret From Every MCU Movie

7. Kathryn Newton's Talent - Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania

There were a lot of talking points coming out of Ant-Man: Quantumania, with some of the biggest being that the most dangerous Kang of all was beaten by Ant-Man and the Wasp without any Avengers help, the horrific image of MODOK (Corey Stoll), and just how disappointing the film was on the whole.

There was also the fact that Cassie Lang was recast for the second time in less than five years. Emma Fuhrmann came in for Endgame as an older Cassie, before she herself was replaced by Kathryn Newton in Quantumania.

This second recast came with Cassie's role expanding from Endgame for Quantumania, naturally, and potentially onwards to a Young Avengers project, and Kathryn Newton's name and recognisability is an obvious bonus for the MCU. However, according to Peyton Reed's commentary on the film, there was another surprising reason she landed the role.

As a grown woman, the performance needed far more physicality to it, and Newton's background as a professional-level golfer went a huge way towards the casting. Forget her performances in Detective Pikachu or Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, it's her plus-two handicap that made her the real draw.
