Oscars: 10 Worst Films Ever Nominated

2. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Best Special Effects)

Transformers The first Transformers was an enjoyable film and while no where near perfect, it did introduce the Transformers characters to a new generation rather well, despite some reservations about director Michael Bay. However, the second in the Transformers series, Revenge of the Fallen, brought everything crashing back down to earth, providing us with a cynical, racist, inconsequential mess. The main reason for this is the writer€™s strikes that occurred between late 2007 and early 2008. After the success of the first Transformers a sequel was a natural decision to make. However, after the writers strike had ended, the writers of the film reportedly only had 3 weeks to create a completed script that was ready to shoot with the results of the apparent lack of time clearly evident in the final cut. Despite the critical slaughtering the film received, commercially, the film was extremely successful, grossing over $800 million and picking up their Academy Award nomination for Best special effects. When the director and the leading man of a film both use expletive language to describe their experiences on set and their views on the final cut of the film, you really do know that you viewed a truly terrible film.
