Oscars 2013: 10 Things The Academy Got Wrong

7. The James Bond Tribute

Here's one element of the show that suffered from being hyped too much; we'd known for months that James Bond was to receive a belated 50th anniversary tribute at the Oscars, and as such speculation began to run rampant that all six James Bonds would appear on-stage together, even Sean Connery, who nevertheless denied his involvement. Even on the pre-show red carpet, Halle Berry remained coy about the whole thing, which only added to creating an air of intrigue and excitement that the show couldn't really deliver on. Yes, Shirley Bassey and Adele were superb in their respective renditions of Goldfinger and Skyfall, but everything else left so much to be desired. From the rote montage to picking Halle Berry, regarded by most as one of the worst Bond girls in one of the worst Bond films, to host the thing - what were they thinking? Oh, and the lack of any James Bond actually showing up was hugely underwhelming too.
