Oscars 2013: 10 Things The Academy Got Wrong

2. Jennifer Lawrence Wins Best Actress

009 Yes, it was widely expected given that she's basically the Academy's darling right now, but did Jennifer Lawrence really deserve the Best Actress Oscar for what was essentially a decent performance in an above-average dramatic comedy? The passion performance of the five was unquestionably Emmanuelle Riva for her sublime performance in Michael Haneke's Amour, and though I never really expected her to win, it would have been nice to see the Academy exercise some of their usual sentiment and give her the gong, whatever the reason for it. Did I take a little pleasure from seeing Lawrence trip up on the stage to collect her award? Absolutely. Am I a vindictive douchebag? Almost definitely.
