Oscars 2013: Remembering The Most Famous Infamous Speeches Ever

9. James Cameron - Best Director/Best Picture (Titanic)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJp7Wd6Af2A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-dPoCfk2n8 By the time the 70th Academy Awards were complete, James Cameron's Titanic would stand beside Ben-Hur as the most honored film in the show's history with 11 wins. By the time Cameron would approach the stage to accept his Best Director Oscar everyone he had planned on thanking had either been nominated or won an Oscar previous, so Cameron took it upon himself to tell everyone how he was feeling at that moment. In a sad display of life imitating art during his acceptance speech-Cameron, always the ego maniac, actually quoted his own movie and proclaimed that he was "King of the world!". Oh yes, he went there. When accepting the Best Picture Oscar not soon after, Cameron seemed to redeem himself for his snide and self indulgent remark previous by asking the entire audience inside the Shrine Auditorium to observe a moment of silence in memory of Titanic's victims. However, he blew the whole moment when he invited everyone to "party 'till dawn" after the silence was broken, proving that yes, sometimes feet can fit that far into one's mouth.
