It's widely expected that we'll probably see another 9 films be nominated for Best Picture this year, and as far as locks go, 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle, Gravity, Captain Phillips, The Wolf of Wall Street and Nebraska are extremely likely to take the first six slots, with the final 2 or 3 being fought out between Dallas Buyers Club, Saving Mr. Banks, Her and Philomena. But what about the Sundance hit that everyone was championing last January as "the next Beasts of the Southern Wild"? Fruitvale Station has enjoyed a consistent stream of acclaim since its Sundance premiere last January, with it being an early potential Best Picture nominee, along with likely acting nominations for Michael B. Jordan and Octavia Spencer. However, over the summer Fruitvale's wave of Oscar hope began to fade, as awards season got into full swing and a glut of other films inevitably debuted. The film clearly has a passionate rabble of supporters, and it would be a great thing to see, but again, don't count on it. Still, we can only hope. Who do you want to see rack up a surprise Oscar nomination? Tell us in the comments!
