Oscars 2016 Nominations: 15 Insane Shocks & Snubs

2. Shock: Mad Max: Fury Road Gets 10 Nominations

There's been a back-and-forth narrative ever since Mad Max: Fury Road hit cinemas about whether or not it would end up making an impact on the Oscar nominees list or not. Though its success on the awards circuit so far pointed to yes, nothing was ever certain, and so it's a pleasant surprise to report that the blockbuster scored a total of 10 nominations, for Best Picture, Director, Film Editing, Production Design, Visual Effects, Cinematography, Costume Design, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Makeup & Hairstyling. Though Max won't win many of these awards, it still takes its rightful place in history as being one of only a small handful of movies (also including The Revenant) to be nominated for every single technical award at the Oscars. And now fanboys quietly hope that George Miller can win Best Director, but alas, it probably won't happen.
