3. Snub: No Sound Mixing For Straight Outta Compton
The five Best Sound Mixing nods went to Bridge of Spies, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, The Revenant and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but what about Straight Outta Compton? As a musical biopic, the film had to naturally integrate music, score and dialogue into a seamless mix, and certainly did a more interesting and dynamic job than Bridge of Spies. But maybe this is just greedy: after all, Compton did get that screenplay nod nobody expected.
