Oscars 2016 Nominations: 15 Insane Shocks & Snubs

13. Shock: The Good Dinosaur & Peanuts Miss Out On Best Animated Feature

Pixar's The Good Dinosaur and The Peanuts Movie both missed out on Best Animated Feature nods, their places instead being taken by the $500,000 Brazilian film Boy and the World, and Studio Ghibli's When Marnie Was There. Though neither The Good Dinosaur nor Peanuts were particularly great films, their ridiculously high profile and campaigning budgets compared to the latter two made most assume that they would sneak into the five. In fairness, Pixar was already competing against itself (a vastly superior film in Inside Out, no less, which got nominated), so it's hard to be disappointed, just hugely surprised. Even though Inside Out and Anomalisa are the only serious contenders in the group, it's always fun to have an underdog or two in the fight.
