Oscars 2016 Nominations: 15 Insane Shocks & Snubs

12. Snub: Steve Jobs For Best Adapted Screenplay

The Best Adapted Screenplay category was a fairly solid selection of nominees, including The Big Short, Brooklyn, Carol, The Martian and Room, but where the hell was Aaron Sorkin for his fantastic work on Steve Jobs? The likely answer is that the movie's poor box office performance caused it to divebomb with voters, but even so, given Sorkin's legendary status in the industry and the endless praise that has been heaped on his work here, it's pretty shocking that he didn't get the rub. Or perhaps the contentious nature of Jobs' character was enough for voters to be turned off by Sorkin's beautiful work, though that wouldn't explain why Fassbender still scored a Best Actor nomination.
