Oscars 2017: 15 Movies Most Likely To Get Nominated For Best Picture

What Is It? The Social Network for McDonalds. Michael Keaton is Ray Kroc, the man who took a small burger joint in California and made it into the biggest fast food franchise in the world. Of course, to do that required a bit of tricksy dealing and arguments with the family behind the restaurant (who aren't called McDonald, sorry).
Why Could It Be A Contender? Keaton's two-for-two in Best Picture wins having helmed Birdman and Spotlight, so there's certainly hope he'll go for the triple, and this has all the makings of being a suitable vessel. The Social Network was an Oscar favourite, and while that had the Sorkin-Fincher team, it still flew on a fundamental level thanks to its concept. Director John Lee Hancock's no stranger to the Oscars either, with a surprise acting winner to his name. At the very least, expect its star to get some Best Actor love.
What Might Stop It? Ironically the same thing that makes it a contender makes it contentious. John Lee Hancock may have some generic plaudits, but as a quality filmmaker he's a rung below the standard Oscar pack; his past two films were The Blind Side and Saving Mr Banks, and while the former did get a Best Picture nom, those are widely regarded as admirable-yet-lacking outings. Has he done the same here?
