Oscars 2017: 20 Predicted Best Film Nominees Ranked Worst To Best

6. Zootopia

La La Land Oscar
Disney

Let's all be honest here, Zootopia (or Zootropolis as it was needlessly renamed in Europe) probably won't be in the running for Best Film, because the Academy still mostly fails to acknowledge that animation counts on the same level as live action film-making. If it did, both this Disney behemoth and the glorious, beautiful Kubo And The Two Strings would have two of the Best Film nomination slots sewn up.

Still, some bookmakers have Disney's thoroughly modern, thoroughly progressive anthropomorphic delight as one of the Best Film favourites, so here we are. And it absolutely does deserve it.

Wittily written, wonderfully designed and anchored by two brilliantly entertaining lead characters, the film may have attracted some frankly indecent and hilarious criticism from those dying to call it leftie nonsense, but it comes with typical Disney morality and a universally appealing story. Were it a live action, it would be a shoo-in.
