Oscars 2017: Predicting All The Nominees

18. Live-Action/Animated/Documentary Short

Oscar Nominations
Pixar

The Short film categories are often among the hardest to predict, because - with a few exceptions - they're usually highly-niche that not a lot of people will have seen. In the Animated category especially, it'll usually be the most high-profile that gets recognised, which is likely to bode well again for Disney and Pixar. In the live-action and documentary categories, meanwhile, there's an interesting mix of countries and topics represented. Each has been whittled down to a shortlist of ten, with five nominees in each.

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
