17. Achievement In Sound Mixing
The Sound awards are usually a good chance for some bigger-budget, action-heavier movies to score a nomination or two, since the Mixing and Editing categories often include a number of the same films. Musicals are often beloved in this area too, which bodes well for La La Land's chances of adding to its (presumably) huge number of nominations. It's also where there's often a lot of confusion, even among industry veterans. In the most basic terms, Editing is the assembling of every sound in the movie; Mixing is putting it all together.
