Had Paramount placed Viola Davis in the Leading race rather than Supporting, then this category might look pretty different. For a start, Michelle Williams would be the favourite, and there'd be far more wiggle room for someone else to sneak in, most likely Greta Gerwig (20th Century Women) or Janelle Monae (Hidden Figures).

As it is, though, Davis is here, will probably win, and this category seems hard for anyone outside these five to break into.
