Oscars 2018: 9 Ups & 8 Downs

3. That Terrible Audience Participation Skit

If the producers needed to cut any segment for time, it should've been the painfully played-out audience participation skit, in which Jimmy Kimmel took the likes of Gal Gadot, Guillermo del Toro, Mark Hamill, Margot Robbie and Armie Hammer across the street to the TCL Chinese Theatre to crash a preview screening of A Wrinkle in Time.

Aside from how weird it is to interrupt a screening of an unreleased movie, the fun of seeing Hollywood A-listers fire hotdogs out of a hotdog cannon and schmooze with the "normies" was cancelled out by the high cringe factor, and how absurdly forced these social media-baiting segments always come across.

It's a long show. Let's not pad it out with needless nonsense like this, yeah?
