8. Shock: Victoria & Abdul (Best Makeup & Hairstyling)

Despite releasing without much fanfare, Victoria and Abdul managed to score an additional nomination (on top of its Best Costume Design nod) for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, beating out a number of other hopefuls, namely Bright, I, Tonya and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Considering Victoria and Abdul's makeup and hair work doesn't exactly draw much attention to itself, especially compared to Bright's fantastic orcs and the larger-than-life Marvel superheroes, it's pretty surprising the film managed to triumph over them.

The award is definitely going to Darkest Hour, though, so the movie will have to settle for the unexpected nomination.
