Oscars 2018 Nominations: 18 Shocks & Snubs

3. Snub: The Florida Project (Best Picture)

Sean Baker's The Florida Project was one of 2017's greatest films, so it's a shame it received only a single nomination for William Dafoe's sublime performance, missing out on well-deserved nods for Best Actress (Brooklynn Prince), Best Original Screenplay, Best Director and, most tragically of all, Best Picture.

The film seemed like a Best Picture lock for quite some time, but with the Oscars' preferential ballot system seemingly preventing the full 10 potential nominees usually being filled out, The Florida Project was ultimately steamrolled by more conventional contenders such as Darkest Hour and The Post.

As far as Best Picture snubs go, this is most certainly one of the more egregious of recent years. What a shame.
